Rioja Case Study

Microsite & Social Media Campaign 

While working at Cite, I was the project manager for the Rioja Regulatory Board. My team and I helped Rioja promote its annual Tapas Fantasticas Festival. Our projects included designing and developing a festival microsite, Facebook advertising campaigns, and three Facebook apps.

WordPress Microsite

For several years, Rioja sponsored the Rioja Tapas Fantasticas Festival in London, England. The event featured Rioja wine, tapas from dozens of restaurants in the city, and seminars on cooking and wine tasting. I managed the creation of a new microsite for the event, and worked closely with designers, developers, and Rioja’s PR agency. The site included an interactive photo and video gallery, listing of events, and Eventbrite ticketing. The website was a success and we were asked to update it with new content the following year. 

Facebook Advertising

To help spread the word about the Rioja Tapas Fantasticas Festival, my team and I worked on a Facebook advertising strategy that focused on reach and increasing visits to the website.

I oversaw the creative for eleven ads, defined target audiences, and set up a two-month ad schedule. I also provided performance reports to Rioja’s PR agency on a regular basis.

Facebook Apps

I managed the creation of several Facebook apps for Rioja, including a condensed version of the festival microsite and a Facebook competition app that let users submit their details for a chance to win a trip to Spain.  

Over the holidays we created an advent calendar app to promote Rioja. Each day in December, users could open a new window to enter a 24-hour competition to win Rioja prizes. The app integrated Facebook Insights and Google Analytics so we could monitor engagement.
